Child-Centred Play Therapy
Non-Directive Therapy
Service Description
45 min face-to-face session + 15min clinical admin A non-directive approach for children aged 3–14 years Child-Centred Play Therapy is a non-directive therapeutic approach that allows children to lead in the playroom. Through play, children are given the space to express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a way that feels natural and safe for them. Rather than relying on words alone, CCPT uses play as the child’s primary form of communication. This makes it especially effective for children who may find it difficult to talk about their experiences or emotions. The therapist provides a warm, accepting, and trusting environment where the child feels supported to explore at their own pace. CCPT is grounded in the belief that children have an innate capacity for growth and healing when given the right conditions. Within this supportive relationship, children can process emotions, build coping skills, develop resilience, and strengthen their sense of self. This approach can be helpful for a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, trauma, behavioural challenges, and emotional regulation. It is also particularly supportive for neurodivergent children, offering a respectful and affirming space for self-expression and emotional development.
